Der Passerellenlehrgang ist ein einjähriger Lehrgang, der Personen mit Berufsmaturität oder Fachmaturität auf die Ergänzungsprüfung Passerelle vorbereitet. Die bestandene Ergänzungsprüfung berechtigt zusammen mit dem Berufs- oder Fachmaturitätsausweis zur Zulassung zu den Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschulen (ETH), den kantonalen Universitäten und den Pädagogischen Hochschulen. Die Berechtigung gilt nicht für die Zulassung zu ausländischen Universitäten.
Der Lehrgang setzt sich aus Direktunterricht in Aarau und einem hohen Anteil Selbststudium zusammen. Eine eigentliche Berufstätigkeit daneben ist nicht möglich. Der Lehrgang beginnt jeweils im August. Bedingung für die Aufnahme in den Passerellenlehrgang ist eine Berufsmaturität oder Fachmaturität.
Die Passerelle ist Ihr Türöffner zum Hochschulstudium. Das letzte Türschloss, das es zu knacken gilt: Sie absolvieren ohne Erfahrungsnoten die Ergänzungsprüfung Passerelle «Berufsmaturität/Fachmaturität – universitäre Hochschulen».
Im Passerellen-Lehrgang besuchen Sie den Unterricht in acht Grundlagenfächern. Sie haben die Wahl zwischen Englisch und Französisch. Französisch wird allerdings nur bei genügender Anmeldezahl angeboten.
Mit der Ergänzungsprüfung Passerelle «Berufsmaturität/Fachmaturität – universitäre Hochschulen» schliessen Sie Ihren Bildungsweg an der AME ab. Der Erfolg hängt allein von dieser Prüfung ab. Es werden keine Erfahrungsnoten angerechnet. Falls Sie die Prüfung nicht bestehen, kann sie einmal wiederholt werden.
Die einzelnen Prüfungen finden in den Monaten Juli bis September statt, optimal abgestimmt auf den Semesterbeginn an Universität und ETH. Sie legen in allen acht Grundlagenfächern eine schriftliche Prüfung ab. Deutsch, Englisch / Französisch und Mathematik werden zusätzlich mündlich geprüft. Im Zeugnis wird der Fächerkatalog in fünf Noten abgebildet:

Mathematik
Naturwissenschaften (Biologie, Chemie, Physik)
Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften (Geografie, Geschichte)
Für das Bestehen der Passerellen-Prüfung wird einen Notenschnitt von mindestens 4.0 verlangt. Sie dürfen nicht mehr als zwei ungenügende Prüfungsnoten haben und keine Note unter 2.0.
Als Absolventin oder Absolvent einer Berufs-, Fach- oder Wirtschaftsmittelschule können Sie statt in die Passerelle auch in das 3. Aufbausemester des Maturitätslehrgangs einsteigen. Dieser Weg führt Sie in zwei Jahren zur Matura.
Maturitätslehrgang
Der Maturitätslehrgang ist ein berufsbegleitender Ausbildungsgang, der zur eidgenössisch anerkannten Maturität führt, die zum Zugang zu universitären Hochschulen berechtigt. Er dauert dreieinhalb Jahre und setzt sich zusammen aus einem Semester Grundkurs und sechs Aufbausemestern. Der Unterricht findet in der Regel an ein bis zwei Werktagen und am Samstag in Aarau statt. Voraussetzung für die Aufnahme in den Lehrgang sind das zurückgelegte 18. Lebensjahr und der Nachweis einer abgeschlossenen Berufslehre oder einer Berufstätigkeit von mindestens drei Jahren Dauer. Die Care- und Erziehungsarbeit, die Freiwilligenarbeit, das Leisten von Militärdienst sowie die Arbeit im Haushalt werden der Berufsarbeit gleichgestellt.
